@hugh I think that suggesting that people not write long threads is unnecessarily exclusionary. I agree that if you have a lot to say, you should consider having maintaining a blog and post links to the blog. But speaking as a person who both blogs *and* writes long replies to messages, I think that being harsh about long threads is also not the epitome of "cosy web".

@alexispurslane @hugh Alexis, I totally understand how it can be discouraging to get no engagement on a blog post. However, I think that one way to overcome the disappointment is to think of blogging as a way to refine a social media thread before setting into stone one's thoughts. An example I can think of is how one can collect all the "parts" of a thread and set them into a blog post format later, where you can then refine some of your statements.
